Super agent Pini Zahavi has been tasked with recruiting Lyon
midfielder Nabil Fekir for Chelsea, according to L’Equipe.
The French newspaper reports that Zahavi has already informally
contacted the Frenchman’s entourage about the Blues’ interest in the player.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has publicly stated that he wants
Fekir’s future sorted within the next few weeks. The Ligue One side are keen to
extend his contract beyond 2020. However, it is believed that the 25-year-old’s
falling out with agent Jean-Pierre Bernes has complicated matters, leading to
an impasse in negotiations.
It could play into Chelsea’s hands, though, with Lyon having to
consider whether to sell the midfielder before the player moves into the last
12 months of his current deal.
The Blues will likely face competition for Fekir from Bayern Munich,
and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will re-enter the race. The Reds
pulled out of a £52.8m move for the France international last summer due to
concerns over a long-standing knee injury.
