Saturday, July 14, 2018, marked the one-year anniversary of Wizkid’sthird studio album – Sounds From the Other Side. The 12-track project encompasses vocal contributions from a slew of international heavyweights including; TY Dolla$ign, Chris Brown, Major Lazer and Canadian rapper, Drake.

Borne with the vision of positioning the Starboy on the mountain of global prominence, Sounds From the Other Side delivered on its promise almost immediately, as it was released to a wide acclaim, receiving praiseworthy reviews from American publications; Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. The project also debuted No. 2 on Billboard’s World Album chart and No. 107 on the revered Billboard Hot 200.

Although it was released under his Starboy imprint in affiliation with Sony Music’s RCA label, Wizkid began recording the album in 2014 while signed to the Banky W-led EME label with Chris Brown being one of the first guests to lay down vocals on the project. “Big shout out to Chris Brown… He’s been showing me love, when I went back to L.A, he jumped on one of my tracks… It’s called African Bad Girl. That’s actually the first single off the next album,” Wizkid cited during an interview on Capital Xtra with DJ Abrantee.
SFTOS, as it is fondly called, is the first fruit of Wizkid’s affiliation with Sony Music, and the project that solidified his presence on the streets of the global community. The achievements that the Starboy has amassed since putting out the tape are enormous and this serves as a testament to the fact that Sounds From the Other Side is the stamp of Wizkid’s global takeover.
