Police investigate mysterious death of Deputy NEIP CEO at Obengfo Hospital

The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has begun an investigation into the circumstances that led to the mysterious death of Deputy CEO of National Entrepreneurship Innovative Programme (NEIP).
Stacy Offie Darko is reported to have passed away at the Obenfo Hospital in Accra on Monday, May 21, 2018. However, Joy News has learnt the hospital authorities decided to deposit her body at the morgue four days after her death without informing her family members.
The mother of the deceased, Nana Akosua Anima (I) told Joy News' Kwesi Parker-Wilson she was informed about the death of her daughter days after her demise.
She is, therefore, accusing the owner of the Obengfo Hospital of having a hand in the death of her daughter
According to the family, Ms Darko wasn’t sick, and that she had only gone to the hospital for a medical checkup last week Saturday evening.
Nana Akosua Anima (I) said Stacy had promised to see her on Monday, unfortunately, she never heard from her, so she kept calling her phone.
She became a bit worried when all her calls went unanswered until on Wednesday when a nurse answered the phone.
The nurse told the mother that Stacy was in critical condition so she should rush to the hospital if she is in Accra because they need a family relative at the hospital.
Nana Akosua Anima (I) said she made a quick dash to the hospital.
Upon reaching the hospital, one doctor explained to her that Ms Darko had come to the hospital for a checkup and while she was receiving treatment, she passed on.
Although she insisted on seeing the body, she was told that the body had already been deposited at the morgue.
Nana Akosua Anima (I) immediately wanted to know who signed on behalf of the family for the hospital to take that decision.
The doctor then explained to her that they had gone through a lot of difficulty in depositing the body at the morgue because the attendants wanted a relative to sign the documents.
She reported the doctor as saying that after failing to secure a place for the deceased at three different places, he then asked one of the cleaners to pretend he was a brother to the deceased so as to get the papers signed.
They were successful this time and deposited the body at the Buduburam morgue. Nana Akosua Anima (I) said she got suspicious and reported the matter to the police.
The doctor and the cleaner were consequently arrested last Thursday and are helping the police in their investigations.
